A Foodie’s Guide to the Perfect 48 Hours in the Tweed Valley

Got 48 hours in the Tweed? Love a proper good feed?

We’ve custom-crafted the perfect food-focused itinerary. From sleek hotels to award-winning restaurants and artisanal booze-makers, this is the ultimate Tweed Valley adventure for foodies like you.

Friday: Dinner with a view

Use some of your hard-earned flex time (or glowing management rapport) to knock off a few hours early on Friday afternoon. With a reservation in hand, make a beeline for Tweed River House, a chefs-hatted destination restaurant in Murwillumbah.

Set in a graceful riverfront home, this award-winning provençal-style bistro offers an exquisite five or nine-course tasting menu. Watch the sunset over Mount Wollumbin from the verandah with a drink in hand. Plat principals span the likes of pan-fried wild-caught fish and Elgin valley free-range chicken.

Once you’re done, it’s time to check in to your hotel. Halcyon House is a beautiful Cabarita Beach boutique with vibrant vintage décor, fabric-covered walls, and cool hues of maritime blue. If it’s booked out (or a tad on the pricey side), opt for the Mantra on Salt in Kingscliff instead.

Saturday: Multi-Course Meals and Terrific Tipples

Kickstart your morning with a hearty breakfast and quick caffeine hit at a cute Tweed café.

Once you’re nourished enough to hit the road, head west towards Tropical Fruit World. The family-friendly fruit-themed attraction has been harvesting the citrusy good stuff for half a century. Embark on a walking tour to see its 500+ sustainably-grown varieties while soaking up those epic hinterland views.

Craft brew fanatics mustn’t miss Earth Beer Company for a tasting paddle of their flavoursome hoppy wares.

Head to Paper Daisy come supper time for more sensational chefs-hatted nosh. The acclaimed destination restaurant does a delectable three or four-course dinner menu (reserve in advance) from executive chef Jason Barratt.
